Silva Bay to Desolation Sound
The Shipyard School Raid is an annual 8 day sailing and rowing race for traditional small boats. The fifth Shipyard School Raid, of summer 2009, is north from the Silva Bay Shipyard School on Gabriola Island, B.C., Canada to Desolation Sound. The course of about 170 km is through the Gulf of Georgia, Malaspina Strait, and into Desolation Sound. For more information, please visit the Shipyard School Raid's Web site.

2nd Annual Silva Bay Rendezvous for Traditional and Wooden Boats

A benefit for the Shipyard School, the Rendezvous is for Traditional and Wooden Boats and a mid-week layover for boats on the Wooden Boat Festival Circuit, falling between the Vancouver and Victoria Festivals. It also precedes the Deer Harbor Rendezvous, the Port Townsend Wooden Boat Festival, and the Brentwood Bay Open Boat Festival.

Silva Bay's 11th Annual Maritime Festival, Wooden Boat Launch, Wooden Boat Seminars, and Small Boat Race
April 4-5, 2009
Each year the festival celebrates the launchings of the boats built by the students at the Silva Bay Shipyard School. During the Festival, there will be Seminars going on all day Saturday, with talks for wooden boat builders, small boat sailors, and anyone interested in traditional boats.
