2008 Summer Short Courses

We are planning some exciting short courses for this summer:

  • Making and Using Wooden Hand Planes

    part of Al's handplane collection Master craftspeople are familiar with the pleasures of using tools they have created. Utility meets art in this class where you will learn how to make and use one-of-a-kind hand planes.

    Dates:April 28 – May 1 (4 days), June 16 – 19 (4 days)
    Tuition: $500 - includes materials

  • Steam-bending & Vacuum-bagging

    Learn how to turn straight wood into curves to make practical and sculptural objects.

    Dates: May 5 – 8 (4 days), August 11 – 14 (4 days)
    Tuition: $500 - includes materials
    Class size: limited to six students

  • Cedarstrip Kayak Building

    Cedarstrip Kayak Six students build a beautiful kayak, one of them takes the kayak home for the cost of the materials.

    Dates: May 19 – 24 (6 days),
    Tuition: $750 – includes materials
    Class size: limited to six students

  • Building the Nutshell Pram (6 students per class)

    Nutshell pram Six students build a boat in two weeks and one of them takes the boat home for the cost of the materials.

    Dates: June 9 – 14 (6 days)
    Tuition: $750 – includes materials
    Class size: limited to six students

  • Oar & Paddle Making

    Oar Making A one week course where you will build your own custom set of oars complete with leathers.

    Dates: June 23 – 27 (5 days)
    Tuition: $650 – includes materials

  • Cedarstrip Kayak Building

    Cedarstrip Kayak

    Dates: July 7 – 18 (10 days)
    Tuition: $4950 – includes materials
    Class size: limited to two students

  • Building the Nutshell Pram (2 students per class)

    Nutshell pram Build a practical and pretty 7’6” rowing dinghy in 10 days to take home at the end of the course.

    Dates: July 28 – Aug. 8 (10 days)
    Tuition: $4950 – includes materials
    Class size: two students will build two boats and take them home at the end of the course.
