Admission Policy

Thank you for your interest in SBSS. Our basic admission requirements include the following:

Students must be at least 19 years of age, have a good command of the English language, be physically fit for manual work, have no known allergies to wood materials or marine adhesives, and have a sincere interest in traditional boatbuilding and cabinetry.

Enrollment in our courses pends on our receiving the Application Package, the approval of our Administrator and Head Instructor, and the payment of deposits and fees.

Course Prerequisites

For Wooden Boatbuilding and Ships Cabinetry, students will have taken Introduction to Marine Woodworking or have equivalent skills.

Tools and Materials

All students are expected to supply some personal hand tools and paraphernailia: A complete list of the tools and materials that students are expected to supply themselves, which varies with the course and the instructor, is available from the School Administrator.
