			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><img class="alignleft size-full wp-image-465" title="introwomen" src="http://www.boatschool.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/04/introwomen1.jpg" alt="" width="600" height="400" />The Silva Bay Shipyard School invites women to join us for the Women in Woodworking weekend course taught by local woodworker Jan Sabine.  This two-day introductory course will teach participants shop safety, use of basic woodworking tools and an introduction to power tools while working on a small project that will be taken home at the end of the weekend.   Through our short courses we hope to foster involvement in the Silva  Bay Shipyard School by encouraging members of our community to get  involved in woodworking and the shipyard school.  Participants from  Nanaimo and surrounding areas are encouraged to join us, please inquire  about shuttle service to Silva Bay from the ferry terminal on Gabriola.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The Silva Bay Shipyard School is hosting a bronze casting demonstration on the weekend of January 23-24<sup>th </sup>2010. The demonstration is going to focus on both marine and artistic castings with boat builders <a href="http://members.shaw.ca/pgron/ArcticTern.htm" target="_blank">Peter Gron</a> and <a href="http://www.barefootwoodenboats.ca/" target="_blank">Quill Goldman</a>.</p>

<p>The event is being held ahead of the SBSS’s upcoming bronze casting short course where students will learn how to cast their own patterns.</p>
<p>Peter and Quill will be preparing and casting from 1-3pm on both Saturday and Sunday at the school.</p>
