From the Board

December 18, 2005

Welcome to the new Silva Bay Shipyard School website. I think the new site is an accurate and up to date representation of our school and its undertakings; it will also be an ongoing record of our success and growth. The future looks bright at the Shipyard School, with a strong staff team, a dedicated group of students, and a Resort Management interested in close cooperation, there are many new courses and events in the wind. I would also like to thank Carie for working so hard to bring this site on line.

This fall session has been a spectacular one at the school. The current group of students is farther ahead on their projects than any class ever at SBSS. Our instructors, Al and Trevor, along with our Manager Les are to be congratulated on smoothing the way. The boats are all looking good; after Christmas break two will be turned upright to receive framing while the others have their planking completed and are removed from the building frame. Those are major steps in the creation of a traditional boat, and January will see some major steps in the making of the new boatbuilders as well.

Season's Greetings to all, come and visit in January.
