Duckweed, shown above, was commissioned in 2004 by Westwind Hardwood, and is the third Gartside design they have commissioned at SBSS.

How to Commission
Each year the Boatbuilding class at SBSS constructs four traditional small boats. Within some guidelines, some or all of these project slots are available for commission or sponsorship. If you are interested in supporting the tradition of small boat construction and in owning a small wooden boat, please contact Les Jackson, School Administrator for further information and available openings. Please note that with rare exceptions we do not build anything larger than 18' LOA.
We are also interested in the donation of wooden boats to fund ongoing operations and special projects at the school
