Finishing Touches
The month of April has seen all the boats receiving the finishing touches and tiny flourishes that make them unique creations. The students new found skill and confidence adds greatly to this, throughout the shop is evidence of careful craftsmanship. Beautifully tapered spars, perfect half-lap and dovetail joints, and precisely laid off bottom-board tapers are everywhere.
The Cats Paw has been varnished and varnished again, her builders are done! The Gartside is receiving her oak rubrails and final varnish; the launch is having her motor installed and battery box built; the dory team are finishing spars and cockpit coaming. Everyone is thinking of Saturday, the launching, and seeing these boats come to life in the water.
